The WDC has been formed to bring structure and regulation to the important strength athlete lift THE SILVER DOLLAR DEADLIFT.
Over the years the 18" SILVER DOLLAR DEADLIFT has taken many forms. Originating in the circus and sideshows two barrels filled with silver dollars would be lifted by a strength athlete, then the general public would pay to attempt the feat with the view to winning the contents of the barrels.
The WORLD'S STRONGEST MAN reintroduced the lift into public view in the famous 1980 Bill Kazmaier win. Kaz would go to lift 478.5 kg in 1982.
The current world records in the SILVER DOLLAR DEADLIFT are .
MALE: RAUNO HEINLA 580 KG
FEMALE: CAMILLA FOGAGNOLO 380KG With so many versions being lifted ie deadlift bars, axel bars, lifting off blocks, boxes filled with weights or bricks etc. We decided to bring some much need regulation and structure to this important strength event by doing the following.
1: Standardizing lifting equipment.
2: Regulating athletes lifting equipment.
3: Holding a WORLD SERIES and Continental Championships around the world.
4: Introducing bodyweight/age classes for male and female athletes.
5: Introducing world records for bodyweight/age classes.
6: Allowing all athletes from around the world to compete, with no memberships or qualifying totals, just apply and lift and take a shot at the title, whether you train at home or in a club or federation it does not matter all are welcome. A truly OPEN WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP.
Thank you and we hope to see you in the future at the WDC World Silver Dollar Deadlift Championships.
ALEX DICK
WDC PRESIDENT.
